Tranzam was formed in 1980 by Carl Jones and Rick Hampton. The pair met at school in 1971 and together they shared a musical passion and friendship that continues to this day. Although Carl retired from performing in 2010 he is still considered to be the band's '6th' member.
 Here, in chronological order, is the bands history. This is the complete "Tranzam Family" and it is dedicated with much love and respect to every single one of the great musicians that appear on this page.

1980

In 1980 the band were primarily an original band, writing their own material
and adding a few covers here and there.
Paul went on to be in bands such as Radio Moscow and Heartbreaker. He is currently fronting Slowburner
1983

This short lived line-up was the only one to feature Rick on lead vocals.
Rob is now with The Rhythm Thieves
1993
Rick Hampton (Bass) Carl Jones (Guitar) Pete Moseley (Drums) John Hampton (Keyboards)
Chris Clowsley (Guitars) John Turner (Vocals)
The band becomes a 6 piece with the introduction of John Hampton on Keyboards.
The original songs have gone as the band focus on covers for the whole set.
Pete now plays with Jack Daniels - John left to form his own band Heaven Sent
1996

Back to being a 5 piece the band enjoyed their most busiest period of the 90's.
Chris now plays guitar with Stampede
1999

1999 saw the band go through 3 line-up changes.
John left to pursue various musical projects
1999

John Hampton re-joined the band as the lead singer
Rob left and played on the local music scene for many years. He passed away on 2010. 
He will be sorely missed by all his 'brothers' in Tranzam.
1999

Andy left the band to go on tour with Budgie. Now part of a successful cabaret act.
2000

Ant joins and the band record their first album "Running Out"
Stevie 'G' now plays with Darkside, a successful Pink Floyd tribute act, and Stampede
2001

During a steady 5 year period the band release another 2 albums: "Still Standing" and "Relativity"
John leaves the band to form Seven Dayz
2005

The band introduce and un-plugged version of their set and release the album "Sounds Better In The Dark"
Gary now plays with a successful cabaret band
2007

Andy, and old friend of the band joins as the band focus on a more high profile bookings
The band release the EP "4Play"
Andy leaves the band and continues to perform with Suck It And See and Off The Rails
2010

After 30 years Carl retires from music after the band's 30th Anniversary.
Carl still helps out at the annual Rock Against Cancer shows and will always be a part of Tranzam
2010

Not long after Ian joined Ant announces that he will be leaving to become a professional full time musician.
Ant plays with The 7 TeezKick Up The 80s and Big Up The 90s
2011

The band are on the verge of folding following the announcement that Nigel and John are leaving the band.
Even though the end seams inevitable Rick announces at Rock Against Cancer 2011 that the band will continue, much to the delight of everyone concerned.

Nige plays with Voodoo Sioux and John fronts Journey 2 Toto
2012 (and beyond)

John Turner returns to the band after 12 years away. John Townsend is the bands new drummer.
